Yacht SCUBE

Welcome to the Scube website

Scube is a Jeanneau Espace 1000 (10.3m) yacht built in 1982. The Espace is an early attempt at a raised saloon boat with sliding cockpit doors so has 360 degree views from inside. There is wheel-steering inside (almost never used for Med sailing) and tiller steering (which I love) in the cockpit. Forward of the saloon is the galley, two double cabins and the heads.

Over the last few years Scube has had a new foresail, new engine (Nanni 42HP), new chart plotter in  the cockpit with 3G radar, andAIS transmitter.

I got rid of a large Avon dinghy and now have small 2/3 man dinghy, rowing only, which can park sideways on the swimming platform - and light enough to lift one-handed. I also got a one-man flat-top hard plastic kayak. It's much easier to get in and out whether by design or accident! Also challenging fun for two people.

2021: Now spend most of my time at my little stone cottage in the centre of Pythagorio, Samos. Scube is at Samos Marina and provides great local escapes.

Layout

Fore double cabin and main central cabin are separated by the heads (dry - as the shower is moved to the cockpit/swim platform). Saloon has 360 deg views, even when seated, with 'greenhouse' sliding door to cockpit with tiller steering; combing each side housing large storage lockers

Pythagorio, Samos

In 2018 I bought a decrepit  stone house. Miraculously it was totally rebuilt, after getting the permissions, in just 13 weeks. Greeks can do things right.
